Industrial interim management: an interim plant director

A departure, an absence, a turnaround, a succession to prepare: your site cannot wait. I take charge of the function for six months at most, at least two days a week, with the responsibility of a director and the experience of a plant director.

Who it is for

Companies that cannot wait

Industrial SMEs, mid-sized companies and regional subsidiaries of groups that have no plant director, supply chain manager or technical director, or no longer have one, and need someone operational quickly, able to decide and to lead, not only to advise.

Functions covered

  • Interim plant director
  • Interim supply chain manager
  • Interim technical director or maintenance manager: maintenance, new works, investment projects
  • Running a major project: reorganisation, new site, lean roll-out

Typical problems

Situations that call for an interim manager

  • A departure or a long absence in a key position, with no successor ready.
  • A struggling site to turn around quickly: lead times, quality, costs, social climate.
  • A long recruitment period to secure, so as not to lose the thread.
  • A handover or a reorganisation to lead calmly.

How it runs

A structured start in the role

  1. ScopingWe set the scope, the objectives, the decision-making powers, the duration and the level of presence.
  2. Taking overI meet the teams and take hold of the indicators and the urgent files. The assignment is announced to the teams: its reason, its duration, what it changes.
  3. SteeringI run the function day to day, stabilise then improve, with regular check-ins with management.
  4. HandoverI prepare my successor from the start and hand over the files, so that my departure happens without a break.

Deliverables

  • The function held and run for the agreed duration
  • Regular check-ins with management and shared indicators
  • A stabilised organisation, priorities dealt with
  • A documented handover to your successor

Duration and terms

Six months maximum, at least two days a week. Monthly invoicing of the days worked.

Travel included up to 100 km from Poligny. Each assignment is tailored; precise quote after a first conversation.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions

What is interim management?

An experienced manager temporarily holds a key position in your company, with operational responsibility for the function, for a duration set in advance: six months at most.

Which positions can you hold?

Plant director, supply chain manager, technical director or maintenance manager on an interim basis, or the management of a major industrial project.

Can it be limited to a few days a week?

Yes, with a minimum of two days a week: below that, you visit rather than manage. The level of presence is set at scoping, according to the size of the site and the urgency.

Why six months at most?

Because an interim assignment is there to stabilise, turn around and hand over, not to permanently replace a position. Beyond that, you need to recruit; I prepare the handover from day one.
